Welcome to Qadim Afghan Hounds!
We're Lesley & Walter Peterson and Mark Brandon. We live in SW Florida and have had Afghan Hounds since 1989. We showed our dogs throughout the 90s and early 2000s and were active members of the Greater Fort Myers Dog Club and founding members of Suncoast Afghan Hound Club of Florida. We took a hiatus from showing in the late-2000s, and then started showing again in 2023; we have been active with AKC dog sports ever since. Our hounds are currently being handled in the breed ring by Jennifer Pearce and Harry Bennett, and we are proud to have both of them on board as part of Team Qadim!
The word "qadim" (pronounced kah-DEEM) means "ancient" in Arabic. The Afghan Hound is an ancient breed, dating back thousands of years. We adopted the name "Qadim" to identify us in the dog show world, and we felt that this was a fitting name that reflects the long lineage of this venerable breed. Please feel free to explore our website to learn more about us and our magnificent dogs.
News flash!!! We're featured in the June 26, 2025 edition of Showsite Express!
