After a years-long hiatus, we returned to the show ring. We have been active with both Khalil and Sandy in a variety of AKC activities, earning titles in conformation, performance, and family events. We've spent countless hours traveling and having fun with our dogs, and we've made so many precious memories. Our grooming area is decorated with signifiers of their accomplishments, such as certificates, medallions, and rosettes, showing our pride in what we've accomplished thus far. Here we share some photos of these awards.
Conformation
We are proud of Sandy finishing her championship in grand style! She became Ch. Aristo's Desert Sands of Qadim, CA DCAT CGC FITB on February 16, 2025, at the Lakeland Winterhaven Kennel Club dog show. She went Best of Breed over 4 specials (champions) and went on to take a Group 4 placement in a quality Hound Group. She finished with 19 points, including 4 majors. We love this girl's effortless movement, balanced structure and level topline, beautifully chisled face, and lovely, feminine bearing. This is our Sandy.
Khalil is making progress towards his championship title. He holds breed championship points, and only needs a major to finish; he is what is often referred to as a "near Champion." He has been maturing beautifully and we proudly display his photo on our wall, celebrating his success in the ring. We love this boy's balanced frame, correct angles, and level topline. This is our Khalil.
Performance Titles - CAT / FastCAT
Our dogs absolutely love chasing the lure! AKC offers the chance to compete in both Coursing Aptitude Test, in which the dog chases a lure over an open field course, and CAT, in which the lure is chased in a straight 100 yard dash. Khalil has earned the CAA (Coursing Aptitude Advanced) and FCAT (Fast CAT) titles. Sandy has earned the CA (Coursing Aptitude) and DCAT (Fast CAT) titles; we are awaiting the arrival of her DCAT certificate and her previous BCAT level title is currently displayed.
AKC Family Dog Program - CGC and FIT
Our dogs are not only performers, they are also valued members of our family. Whether it's lounging on the sofa or walking through the neighborhood, they are a part of our everyday life. Good manners and proper fitness are part of what we wish to encourage in our beloved canine companions. Both Khalil and Sandy have earned the Canine Good Citizen title, demonstrating that they know how to be well behaved hounds. We also had fun getting into shape with them through walking and exercise, earning their Fitness titles, with Khalil and Sandy holding Silver and Bronze status, respectively. They both have exceedingly lovely temperaments, making it a true pleasure to share our home with them.
